Thirsk and Northallerton Lions Club has been dedicated to serving the local community by providing complimentary Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) tests for men aged 50 to 80. The event was held at Northallerton Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, the 7th. Of the 100 scheduled participants, 93 attended on the day. The procedure consisted of a straightforward blood sample collection, conducted by nurses and phlebotomists from Mowbray Group Surgeries in Northallerton. Volunteers from Prostate Cancer UK were also present to offer advice and information regarding prostate cancer, including preventative measures.

The Mayor of Northallerton, Councillor Andrew Hugill, supported the initiative by attending the event and leading by example with a PSA test. He engaged with members of the Lions Club, healthcare professionals, and other volunteers throughout the day.

This event's success was made possible by the dedication and support of all involved, and we extend our sincere gratitude to those who assisted the Lions Club in this endeavour. Participants began receiving their test results by Monday morning; for those who have been advised to seek further consultation with their general practitioners, we wish you well and trust that this early intervention will contribute to prompt and effective treatment.

Thank you to everyone who came down to DL7 8EG to get checked. You've taken a massive step for your health and your family.
